Finally, I am able to post those great American words: I have a job! God graciously granted me the job I wanted from the time we first moved here, at byFaith, the magazine of the PCA denomination. I'll be working with the subsciption list and advertising, as well as succumbing to what I've always viewed as my technological nemesis, updating the magazine's web site.
Eventually, this may lead to editing work with the magazine, something I have always wanted to do (my dream job, if you will - work with English/grammar and read "all day long" while getting paid!). Best of all, 90% of the work will be done at home, so I only have to go to the office once a week for a half day or full day, depending. It's also part-time, which was another requirement for any job I pursued, to allow enough time to take care of the house and John and Potential Future People; I do NOT want to resurrect the 60 to 70-hour (plus) work weeks that teaching required.
My sweet husband made the announcement on his blog with more fanfare, but I will echo his not-so-subtle encouragement to subscribe to this awesome magazine whether or not you're a member of the PCA; we've promoted the magazine long before the opportunity to work there arose. We've received byFaith since its inception almost 2 years ago and continue to be impressed by its theological insights, practical advice, and superb visual design.
Officially, my first day is Monday, when I look forward to putting on some shorts and cleaning the house, since I can't do anything until I go to the office on Tuesday for training.
