There is nothing wrong with the Midwest

My husband deplores the clues that give away my Midwestern upbringing. The way I talk, the phrases I use - and especially, my use of the word "pop" for carbonated beverages.

I found this "accent quiz" on my aunt's blog and took the quiz myself. Here are the results (not really surprising):

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I "have a good voice for TV or radio," eh? Two options I would die first before considering.

P.S. The bars next to the geographical areas are supposed to form a red bar graph, but for some reason it's not showing up correctly. Being the opposite of a technological guru, I don't know how to fix it. Nor do I care (despite my perfectionist nature).
